Mar 16,  · The California Institute of Technology has filed a provisional patent on the method for design and creation of the folded DNA structures (scaffolded DNA origami) described in this paper DNA methylation can be detected by the following assays currently used in scientific research: Mass spectrometry is a very sensitive and reliable analytical method to detect DNA methylation. MS, in general, is however not informative about the sequence context of the methylation, thus limited in studying the function of this DNA modification The dual-tracrRNA:crRNA, when engineered as a single RNA chimera, also directs sequence-specific Cas9 dsDNA cleavage. Our study reveals a family of endonucleases that use dual-RNAs for site-specific DNA cleavage and highlights the potential to exploit the system for RNA-programmable genome editing

The self-assembly of DNA molecules provides an attractive route towards this goal. Here I describe a simple method for folding long, single-stranded DNA molecules into arbitrary two-dimensional shapes. Once synthesized and mixed, the staple and scaffold strands self-assemble in a single step.

Because each oligonucleotide can serve as a 6-nm pixel, the structures can be programmed to bear complex patterns such as words and images on their surfaces. Finally, individual DNA structures can be programmed to form larger assemblies, including extended periodic lattices and a hexamer of triangles which constitutes a megadalton molecular complex.

Aug 31,  · Research librarians specialize in research (it might sound obvious, but take a second to get excited about how much this could help you and your research paper!). These librarians usually specialize in particular fields and subjects, so you can get specific, expert help that pertains to your topic Mar 25,  · DNA was first observed by Swiss biochemist Friedrich Miescher in , according to a paper published in in the journal Developmental Biology. Miescher used Background: It is not yet known whether DNA methylation levels can be used to accurately predict age across a broad spectrum of human tissues and cell types, nor whether the resulting age prediction is a biologically meaningful measure. Results: I developed a multi-tissue predictor of age that allows one to estimate the DNA methylation age of most tissues and cell types
